▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
True are the words of God the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
