By no means! By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
