No, by the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until death approached us". 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
