By no means! By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
