Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning for people -- 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
