▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until death approached us". 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
