Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning for people -- 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
