Nay, by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 about the sinners. 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
