Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mankind, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
