Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning for people -- 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
