Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the sinners. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
