I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
