NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
