Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to mortal man 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
