▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
