Nay, and by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
