Nay, by the Moon 32 By the receding night 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
