Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
By the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 Warn the men. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 About the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
