Nay, by the Moon 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to humans, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
