Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
