No, by the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
