Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
