▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the Moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
