NAY, but consider the moon! 32 By the night when it departs. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
