Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 except the people of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
