Nay, by the Moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 Warn the men. 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Until the certainty of death had come upon us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
