No, by the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
