NAY, but consider the moon! 32 By the receding night 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humans, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until death approached us". 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
