By the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to humans, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 about the guilty ones: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
