No! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning for people -- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 From the guilty. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
