Nay, and by the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 Warn the men. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the sinners. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
