I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning unto humankind 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
