Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humans, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except those on the right side. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
