By no means! By the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
