By the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 From the guilty. 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
