Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
