Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 From the guilty. 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until death approached us". 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
