Nay! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning unto humankind 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
