▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
