Nay, by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those on the right side. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the sinners. 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
