NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 From the guilty. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
