Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
