I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the receding night 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 From the guilty. 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
