Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
