Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
