Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
