Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
