Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
