Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
