Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 On that day, the station is only towards your Lord. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
